I'm not used to writing Havoc, so I'm not sure how good this actually is.

He’d never really believed in angels before. Honestly, if someone had said they’d seen an angel he would have laughed and told them they were smoking something powerful.
And then he’d glanced up and found himself staring at what he was sure WAS an angel.
Blonde hair was falling down her shoulders; dark reddish brown eyes looked up to meet his.
Then she smiled and he was fairly certain his heart was going to hammer out of his chest.
Which was a reaction Jean Havoc had always prided himself on NEVER having.
She was seated on the bench across the train car from him and when she turned her head to speak to someone he had to resist the urge to kick her in the leg just to see her eyes again.
She was with someone else. A taller, darker man was leaning his head down to say something. She smiled again. Different this time, warmer and her eyes seemed brighter suddenly.
And Jean suddenly found the intense desire to PUNCH the other man.
Which was quite ridiculous as he had no idea who they were.
He wanted to talk to her.
Hell, what he wanted was to hurl himself at her feet and swear undying love. But he thought that might be a bit extreme and she didn’t look like the type of woman who would STAND for that kind of thing.
She was beautiful. In that vague way that women were beautiful. He could never tell anyone what it was that was captivating about her. He just had the intense feeling that he was supposed to be with her.
And then the train slowed down and she stood up, smiled at him again and walked away with the man by her side.
And he wanted to jump up and rush after her, but he couldn’t. He felt frozen in his place.
The doors shut behind her and the train started to roll away.
He was not going to see her again. But that didn’t make that moment feel any less important.

It was stupid to be obsessing over this. It wasn’t supposed to happen. That was all. Like every other girl he’d ever found an interest in, it just wasn’t meant to be.
As his roommate had put it. . .
“You don’t even know her name.”

Jean snapped to attention and stopped leaning against the desk of his new CO’s office.
He’d heard stories about Colonel Roy Mustang, but he was pretty sure most of it was exaggeration.
The man in front of him was not exuding menace or even danger.
Honestly, he looked bored if anything. And terribly familiar, although Jean couldn’t place why.
The Colonel turned his head to look at whoever was coming in behind him.
“Second Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye,” Mustang said, gesturing from the newcomer to Jean.
Jean jumped because the cigarette he always held in his mouth fell out and landed in his shirt pocket.
The Lieutenant smiled at him and snapped off a salute.
Well. . .now he had a name.

*Thunderous Applause* Dumbstruck-love! That was an excellent line! By the way, you probably knew this, but in terms of character height: I've looked into the matter, and concluded from a lined-up mug shot of the military crew that Mustang was 5'-10", Riza 5'-7" to 5-8", and Jean a whopping 6'-2". This in consideration of your remark about Mustang being taller and such, which I probably misread.
